Roots Search (1986) Laser Disc  

I must scare easily. Just reading that description gave me some chills...  

Why are the subtitles always so... fuzzy?  

Wait, LaserDisc , fuzzy subtitles, "burn in" ... do you mean ... *gasp* ... Hard Subs  

Easily one of the worst animes I've ever seen.
If you're into that and/or building a collection of really bad animes, go for it!

I found it scary when I first saw it. It's a good horror anime thats needlessly bashed by others.

Aside from having a much bigger file size, how is this version different from the one we already have?

BluDragon definitely looks better. And I don't exactly know how that comparison site really works, but the aspect ratio of the other one is slightly off, as evidenced in the 4th comparison shot, where the circles aren't quite circles.

BluDragon's video definitely looks better. It's sharper and the colors seem to be more alive, not as pale as Hanakos! On the other hand, it seems that somehow BD's subtitles seem a little bit more fuzzy than Hanakos. Interesting ova btw. xD

This is a great anime if you like cheese.  I will not say it is really good, but its worth a watch.

Doesn't look that good, but the box art is amazing, and it was made at the peak of civilization 1986.  Thank you so much for personally offering all of these rare and amazing works.

They all said that Laser Disk was going to revolutionize the world.. Not soon after came Frisbee disk.

 I remember the "good ol" days when the only way to get anime was to go down to my local comic shop and buy VHS copies of laser disc anime the guy ordered from Japan.  No subtitles or anything.  Just looking at the pretty pictures on the screen trying to figure out what was going on

After watching it, I gotta say that there are a lot of similarities between Roots Search and the hollywood movie "Event Horizon" and also a little bit of "Sphere". Damn, even the different deaths of the people seem to be copied almost 1:1 to Event Horizon. I don't wanna go too much into detail here, so I don't spoil it for other people. But if u have seen Roots Search and also Event Horizon, I bet u will know what I mean. Not the first time a had the thought that anime stories, storyboards, charakters and so on have been stolen, copied from hollywood to create a good movie.
The anime is great. I enjoyed the dark and threatening atmosphere it has, like a lot of the animes from this genre and time. The ending is a little bit weird. I'd call it good old stuff. Thanks for the ul!

There are so many elements that does not fit well in a horror movie, it could have been allot better.

Good plot, bad story plan.
