ep3's subs are off sync, and some subs of other eps are weird, whenever the character says somethin in 'engrish', the subs for that word are in romanji >_<..
That's intentional on the part of the DVD translation...it imitates the "foreign language" effect. thegreypiper

Well, looks like all the other comments are tech-oriented, hope no-one minds if I make a comment about the show itself....
Hand Maid May -- another entry in the boy-meets-girl robot field. Still, it works. Fun series, lotsa cheesecake, oops, fan-service, I mean, and a story line that is just different enough to help distinguish it from all the other robot love stories out there (lookin' at you, Chii).
At 11 episodes. it is a much tighter story line than Chobits, (indeed, that series might have been better if pruned down a bit), and doesn't try to to hit the profound mysteries Chobits explores (or tries to). On the other hand, the one character Nanbara is SO over-the-top in his aggressive noisiness/onoxiousness/glad-handing-insurance salesman-ness that one really wishes he was much less so, if not an entirely different character: one less silly and more understated, such as Jar-Jar Binks.
In spite of that, this is a great fun to watch. May is charming to look at, terrifically cute trying to do household chores as a Barbie-doll sized robot, and the relationship that grows between her and Saotome (her "owner" -- does one truly "own" a sentient personality, even if contained in an artificial mind?) is sweet, if predictable. Twists and resolutions are presented in due form, and the ending does not online discussion groups to be understood. Other characters abound, of course, as do a couple of running gags.
I would call this a "must-see" as a very well-done entry of its genre. Additionally, like others of this kind, it does raise fascinating prospects and questions about a future that may not be very distant. Good re-watchability too, it is one you will want to go back to taste the sweet froth that is Hand Maid May.

Great series! And I totally agree with thegreypiper
As for episode 3, the subs are off sync (~1sec faster then it should be) but there is a way to temporary fix this by using the CCCP codec pack and a media player that is included with the pack.
CCCP Codec Pack Link
As you are watching your Hand Maid May episode with either Zoom Player or Media Player Classic you'll notice 3 tray icons (FFv, FFa and the Haali Media Splitter).
I do not take responsibility for your screw ups so try this at your own risk - Read the note at the end of this comment
Now right click the FFa tray icon and then hit "DirectVobSub (auto-loading version)", found almost at the top. Then the properties window for DirectVobSub will appear. You'll see different tabs at the top. Click the Timing tab and under Subtitle Timing enter 1000 in the first window which says "(millisecs)". This will delay the subs by 1 sec, just want we wanted. Hit Apply or OK and watch your anime with the synced subs.
Tested this with Zoom Player and Media Player Classic as the tray icons seems only to appear when the file is played with those media players.
NOTE (really important that you read this part):
This will delay all other subs with 1sec aswell, so make sure you go back and change the delay to 0 after watching the episode 3!

O.O Holy crap. After reading this and going back over the show in my head, I've finally come to a realization: this show is Mega Man on crack with harem and romance! Nanbara is Wily, and Saotome is Light, with Nanbara constantly trying to mess with Saotome or capitalize on his work. @_@

LOL @ Godfoster
Amazing comparison lmao
It is a must see. I'm downloading it for the 3rd time (1st the subs were screwed, 2nd DVD died).
And I will surely buy the DVDs when I can afford
